As the open water season draws to a close, here are a few tips for you to make sure your investment is ready for winterization in regards to your fuel and livewells.

Fuel:

Protecting your engine and fuel is one of the most important steps in the winterization process. At Legend Boats we recommend Mercury Quickstor Fuel Stabiliser. Quikstor prevents fuel from breaking down and oxidizing, fuel system corrosion, and gum and varnish from forming in the fuel and settling in the fuel lines, tanks, carburetors and injectors. To properly winterize the engine and fuel system, simply add 1 ounce of Quickstor for every 5 gallons of fuel in the tank followed by running the engine for 10 min making sure the Quikstor has run through the system. Running the engine can be done on the water, or at home with a Seachoice Proflo Universal Motor Flusher.

Livewell(s):

Protecting your livewell is safe and easy to do wherever you store your boat. Mercury Water System Anti-Freeze is non-toxic and glycerin free, meaning it can be used virtually anywhere. All you need is a short length of hose and a funnel. After removing the Livewell Strainer from the transom, a standard garden hose can be screwed on and attached to the livewell intake. With a funnel attached to the other end of the hose, power on your livewell system and begin to pour the Mercury Anti-Freeze into the funnel, and watch the magic happen! Be sure to place a bucket or container at the Livewell Drain to catch the product as it flows out. Note once the Anti-Freeze starts to fill the livewell you can be sure that the lines are filled with Anti-Freeze. For manual livewell systems simply pour the Mercury Water System Anti-Freeze into the livewell(s) until it flows from the outtake.
