Legend Boats FAQs
Are Legend Fishing and Family Boats Welded or Riveted?
Both! We offer both riveted and welded aluminum boats to meet the different needs of boaters.
Riveted Series (R-Series): These boats are constructed using high-quality rivets, allowing for a flexible and lightweight design. Riveted boats absorb impacts well, making them ideal for calmer waters and lighter loads.
XT & XF Series: Welded boats are constructed with continuous, seamless welding, providing extra durability and strength. They are great for larger body of waters and heavy-duty applications, making them a preferred choice for anglers and adventure boaters.
Are Legend Fishing and Family Boats Made of Aluminum?
Yes! Legend Fishing and Family Boats are made from Legend PerfectFlex H34 gauge aluminum, a material known for being lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and durable. Legend’s PerfectFlex H34 has the perfect balance of strength and flexibility. Although H36 is harder, it is also more brittle. Its strength is reduced by over 80% when stressed during manufacturing or when flexed on the water. In Fact, when stressed, H34 PerfectFlex is tested to be more than 2.5 times stronger than H36, making it the ultimate hardness for .100 gauge aluminum manufacturing. Aluminum boats require less maintenance and offer excellent fuel efficiency, making them a great choice for boaters of all experience levels.

General Boating FAQs
How Do I Get My Boater’s License?
In Canada, a boater’s license (known as the Pleasure Craft Operator Card, or PCOC) is required to operate a powered watercraft. Getting your license is simple:
- Take an accredited online or in-person boating safety course.
- Pass the Transport Canada-approved exam.
- Receive your PCOC, which is valid for life!
For more details, visit Transport Canada’s official website.
What Safety Equipment Should I Have on Board?
Safety should always be a top priority when boating. Prioritizing safety will make for a fun and successful day on the water – plus, it allows you to boat worry-free, knowing you have a plan in place.
- One life jacket per person – Ensure every passenger has a properly fitted life jacket.
- Fire extinguisher – A must-have for fire emergencies.
- Flares – To alert emergency services to your location in case of distress.
- Bailer or pump – To remove excess water from your boat.
- Watertight flashlight – Useful if you’re out later than expected or need visibility in low-light conditions.

Who Enforces Boating Safety Regulations?
Boating safety is taken seriously in Canada, and several authorities ensure compliance:
- Transport Canada – Establishes and enforces national boating safety laws.
- Provincial & Municipal Police (OPP, RCMP, local marine units) – Patrol waterways, conduct safety checks, and enforce laws.
- Conservation Officers – Ensure environmental laws and regulations are followed.
To avoid fines and ensure safe boating, always carry your PCOC, required safety equipment, and follow speed and alcohol laws.
