Strike Zone Solution To Catch More Fish
I started fishing a new rig this year for my worm harnesses, while dragging for walleye. I started this while out on the Bay of Quinte during the Kiwanis Walleye weekend. Since then I have tested the rig and found that I catch a lot less weeds which means my setup is in the strike zone longer. Give it a try if you haven’t already….
I started by tying a slightly smaller hook at the bottom of the harness and a larger hook about 2 inches above the bottom. Then adding my beads and blades which you can really use any recipe you like. The main thing that I changed is instead of using 8lb test fluorocarbon, I started using 10lb test. The reason I increased the test is I shortened the length of my harnesses. I use to tie my harnesses about 5feet long where I shortened that to about 30 inches. I then tie on a swivel and it’s ready to be rigged.
In the past I have used bottom bouncers, which in my experience have grabbed weeds like mad. As a main line I always use Power Pro Braid. I started slipping on a Ultra Tungsten bullet weight followed by a red bead then tie my main braid to the swivel of my harness.
So far I have tested this rig on the Bay of Quinte, Scugog and Sturgeon and absolutely went lights out. By putting the new formula Gulp worms on the hooks with the hooks just tipped into the worm, I have been able to drag this setup virtually weedless.
Give it a try and I hope it works as well for you as it has for me.
