Fishing season is now upon us and being prepared for a long weekend fishing trip or just a day on the water with family will help everything run smoothly and without a hassle. We want you to enjoy every minute of this boating season and we would like you to catch those trophies. So if you plan on fishing, the most important step to perform before getting to the lake or waterway is to  ensure you and your family or friends have valid fishing licenses.

In Ontario, anyone between the ages of 18-64 must have a valid Ontario issued Outdoors Card as well as a fishing license tag in order to fish legally. The license tag can be bought simultaneously with the Outdoors Card or after. Anyone under 18 and older than 64 can fish without a license, however they must stay within the fishing restrictions and have a government issued ID with them that states the holder’s name and date of birth. For anyone between the ages of 18-64, in order to get your Outdoors Card, you must be a Canadian and/or an Ontario resident living in Canada or Ontario for at least 6 consecutive months within the 12 months immediately before applying for the Outdoors Card.
